When we woke up, everything was white, the back door was open, and there was a note on the table from squirrelmonkey saying, "I may be gone some time. Playing outside in snow."

Now both schools are closed and there are excited monkeys of assorted sizes having snowball fights everywhere.

The garden looks like this.

snow in garden 1

(Note no footprints although squirrelmonkey was out there quite recently assembling the dirty snowball by the shed. It is falling FAST.)

Oooh, that looks lovely :) We had a little snow, too, but just enough to light up the evening, not to have a good excuse to not go to work/school *g*

It's very pretty... it's pretty here too but I really don't fancy going out in it!

So pretty! I think our chance for snow has passed us by (it was very cold in late Nov/Dec, mid 70's today, and sunny), but I appreciate the pic so I can admire yours. And a Snow Day for the kids! That's great!

They're back to school today - very excited about seeing their friends and comparing snow experiences from yesterday

Out in it was good! Had lovely walk along the backs with [livejournal.com profile] tamaranth, and visit to Eagle pub in rare tourist-free moment. (Though T was disappointed that the mulled wine on the menu was unavailable as it's "seasonal". Then we built 2 snow cats and a snow very tall thing with squirrel and spider and one each of their friends. Then home for hot choc/coffee.

It was the first real snow either of them remembers. Normally you have to hunt around to get enough for a small snowman. Not yesterday! I'll post more pics friendslocked once I've caught up on yesterday's work.

So pretty! I love actual snow. The ice we got was pretty in a nightmarish way, but not worth the trouble! On Saturday night, warm air moved in and caused fog. Combined with the dark areas of the city, we started to feel like we were driving around after some kind of apocalypse and we watched suspiciously for zombies. ;)

I love it too, and this was the most I've ever seen. (The year in Canada doesn't count.) Now we have sleet and slush, probably for days and days - it's yucky in the streets, but still fun for the kids in the park. I've never seen an ice storm and I'm fairly sure I don't want to.
