Liberté Egalité Inter-cité (to Norwich)
Sep. 18th, 2009 04:46 pmIt's definite! I have two groups for the Arts course, one in Cambridge and one in Norwich.
The small downside is I'll be travelling to Norwich quite a bit and horribly busy in October when I have both those groups plus the tail end of the French course and the start of a creative writing course I've signed up to study.
The much bigger upside is that I can now stop teaching the French course, at least for a year. Most of you know how crazy that's been driving me recently. But I've escaped!
I'm waiting until next week to tell the boss so I can combine resigning/requesting leave of absence with reporting on the online oral exam about which I have a very very bad feeling. At this point, I'm contractually required to state that I'm sure it will all be fine on the night although nothing about the online conferencing software has been fine on any previous occasion.
So, from 14th October I won't a language teacher. It feels very odd. I've been studying or teaching French and German all my life. I'll still be doing some translation, but otherwise, no more languages. This is good because the Arts course is much more fun. But it's still weird. I have filed all the books about the conditional and life in Grenoble out on the landing: my office looks brighter already.
