Monkey week of adventures
May. 25th, 2010 10:11 amWe somehow stuffed all Spidermonkey's camping kit* into the backpack without it collapsing under its own gravity and forming a black hole in the kitchen. Spider is responsible for breakfasts--cereal bars and hot choc--and one evening meal--chicken super noodles and spam. Also emergency rations--chocolate. Please remind me to give him a vitamin pill before he leaves tomorrow.
Today, he only has to stagger as far as school and try it all out. We're not sure if he has to carry it home too, or can leave it there.
Wednesday, they get a bus to Norfolk and carry the kit 5 miles** to the campsite.
Thursday is the 10 mile hike*** with a lighter pack.
Friday is the reverse of Wednesday.
All assuming the ?glandular fever doesn't flare up and he manages to stay on his feet. He really wants to go and isn't ill enough to justify stopping him, but... stressed mum is stressssssssed!
Meanwhile, Squirrelmonkey has set off with just a guitar and a pencil. The Year 7s and 8s are putting together a production of Hair in one week, and he's in the band, maybe singing or acting as well. The performance is Friday lunchtime--I can hardly wait.
No, school is not like this all the time. This is ICU**** week.
*Except the stove, but someone else has a stove. Probably.
**Spider is worse than politicians about figures. We hope it's 5km. Or maybe 50 yards...
*** Really 10 miles--we think.
**** I don't know what it stands for either.
