updatey
Spider is feeling positive about Long Road, even the Long Bike Ride. We found out a bit more about Hills Road admissions. Seems they were overwhelmed with applicants for Sciences this year. Normally, they look at your best 8 predicted grades--including Maths and Eng Lang--and make you an offer if you have 6 As. Spider has 6 As, though actually getting them is of course a whole nother challenge. This year for Sciences, they are making offers only to people who are predicted 8 As so Spider, and many like him are out.
I can't fault the logic, but it seems a fairly crap way of recruiting the best scientists, since only 4 of those 8 As are going to be for Maths and Sciences. And because one of the As has to be English Lang, it's a pretty clear statement that they're not interested in anyone with significant dyslexia, however brilliant he/she may be at Maths or Science. There is no way in the known universe that Spider could ever get an A for English Language. (Correction: no legal way.) I expect Long Road Science dept will be rubbing their hands in glee.

I'm going to pack the computer today. We'll still have internet and laptop for a while, but I don't suppose I'll be posting or replying until we're set up in the new place.
Have a good Easter!
