Dear God

If You're out there, then, yes, some help saving the rainforest would be very nice. Humans don't seem to be doing well on that one at the moment.

However, please could You leave Your friend Benedict's other suggestion for later?  Much later, after You've saved the rainforests, brought about peace on earth, stabilised climate change, given us a cures for cancer, headlice, and hangovers, organised universal free education and healthcare, and maybe lent a Hand with peoples' gardening and such.

By the time You've done all that, You'll need a rest. Put Your Feet up for a bit and take it easy!

But afterwards, if You have a minute or two to spare, please... could we perhaps have a less bigoted pope, please?

Thank You in advance and merry Christmas.

PS  Please could You also arrange for more responsible journalism?  (See link in [livejournal.com profile] tamaranth 's comment below.)

"Pope Benedict XVI has said that saving humanity from homosexual or transsexual behaviour bigotry is just as important as saving the rainforest from destruction."

Typo fixed.

Am 100% with you on this. Though suspect there is some sensationalist reporting going on: see this here post.

Do you read Italian?

Yes. I nearly added an edit when I saw that one. But then I decided it doesn't really alter my point. Then again, I think I'll add an edit.

I don't read Italian. There might be a decent French translation already - if anyone can track it down, I'd have a go at that. German too, though I can't see why that would be out there before an English version unless he wrote it in German and had it translated into Italian...

Very well said!

(BTW - I'm here via the link in [livejournal.com profile] swisstone's journal)

Thanks! And hi to swisstone. (Apparently, I'm too tired to do lj tags right.)
