I should be marking, but I have Big News. Monkey boys have cut their hair!
More accurately, I cut it for them, but only because they asked me to. It was all a bit of a panic as they they wanted it done before the first day back at school after half term, but they didn't make the decision until the night before, just after we'd returned from a weekend in Sussex and were trying to get unpacked and have a quiet evening. (To be fair, Spider had muttered about it as we were going to Sussex, so I'd packed the hair scissors, but not used them there.)
So last Sunday night, I snipped away, and I must say the results aren't bad. Squirrel went first because Spider wanted a tester. He now has short hair in a side parting. Spider went for what I can only call a bob--because I only know 3 words for hairstyles. It's past his chin but off his shoulders. They both seem happy, especially with the shocked reactions they were getting every time they walked into a new classroom. And I have a plait of Spider's hair put a away in a box. (He checked out selling it, but decided against as you have to keep it on your head until you find a buyer, which would have messed with the half term deadline.)
Oh, and I ran the clippers over Musique_monkey's head while I was at it, and we have a new car.
