first steps
Oct. 11th, 2012 12:55 pmSince yesterday, Leicester is allowed out of his tiger cage for a few minutes 'sedate strolling' two or three times per day. Now that he's willing to put a bit of weight on the bad leg, the idea is to get him to do that just enough to rebuild the wasted muscles without doing too much and re-breaking the bone. He hobbles quite well across the big rug and back, especially when cat treats are involved, but the leg is still very weak and gives out on him after a few yards.
Sedate strolling is never going to be his style. He's eyeing up furniture to jump up on and curtains to climb--both strictly forbidden until the bone has mended more. It's surprisingly hard to stop him, but easier with two apes. Many thanks to
la_marquise_de_ for dropping by to feed, entertain, and sedately stroll with us yesterday.
