Spidermonkey had his ear appointment and the infection and the polyp are GONE!  He still has three holes in his new eardrum, but one of them is healing already and the other two may heal by themselves.  Seems things could go three ways.
1.  Everything heals up and his new ear drum is declared a success.
2.  It stays clean and uninfected, but the holes don't close.  He's need a smaller op to patch them.
3.  Infection recurs or the drum retracts while trying to heal itself and he needs the major op again.

Two weeks ago, we were pretty much staring down the barrel of #3.  Now #1 suddenly looks quite likely.  Keep everything crossed for him, please.

On the downside, I now have an ear infection.  Over-identification with Spidermonkey, or just too many nights of earplugs?

His 12th birthday last week went well.  He and his friends had a great time trying out new tricks on the climbing wall, and then we took both Small Monkeys skating.  His main present was a bass guitar, which he's really into and doing pretty well with for only one week's practice.  I suppose all those violin lessons may have helped...  Don't think the band he's in at school has a name yet, but they can almost play a Green Day song!

Consider everything crossed here! And I hope your ear (or ears) improve soon.

So happy that Spidermonkey is doing well and had a great birthday, too. Everything crossed, healing vibes, prayers, etc. radiating from S. Calif. So sorry you have an ear infection, though. I hope it gets better soon.

*hugs distant friend while glaring balefully at her neighbors*

Oh, that's good news! (Except your ear infection--I hope that clears up pronto.)

Thanks! I'm sure my ear will be better soon. And better I have the ear infection than he does - mine won't mean I end up in surgery!

My ear is bad, but I'm in bed with antibiotics and laptop, so content as a cucumber really.
Thanks for dancing.

Thanks! We always knew it would be 6 months to a year before we could relax and call the eardrum graft a success. So having all possibilities open again is really as good as it gets for now. So much better than 2 weeks ago.

Glad to see you're getting more sleep - so am I and it makes such a difference.

Missed this yesterday, excellent news on all fronts! 'Cept your ear of course. I blame the earplugs, and the neighbours (the latter more in principle than anything, though stress does not help biological resilience).

Which Green Day song? I am fond of Green Day (and mashups thereof).

I asked Spidermonkey for the name of the song, but he doesn't know it. Or the lyrics. Seems they have no-one in the band who's actually willing to sing.
