state of the monkey household

Took Spidermonkey to the the fracture clinic for follow up on his broken finger. It's starting to mend but is ever so slightly rotated inwards. If it was worse, they would reset it with wires and stuff. If he didn't play guitar and violin it would be fine as it is.
So he had to choose. Is it good enough to leave alone, or should they rebreak and wire it today (with no guarantee of it ending up better)? The consultant gave us lots of his time to ask questions, but it's a tough call because Spider has to guess how it might feel when fully healed in the autumn and weigh that up against an op with an uncertain outcome. He went for leaving it alone, which I think is probably right, but it'll be months before we know for sure. If it turns out badly, there's still a chance to go for the op, but it would mean cutting the bone and going through all the healing again.
On the plus side, he's not only allowed but actively encouraged to do whatever guitar and violin playing he can manage starting from now, and he only has to wear the splint for another week to 10 days. (And he can remove it briefly, which means he can shower, though I'm not sure he's so happy about that part.)
He's having the rest of the day off school and going to the nurse at 5pm to see if he needs any more dressings on the grazes.
Humbug is feeling much better and rushing around playing lions'n'wildebeest like old times. Leicester is delighted. We all are, but it's really sweet the way L has clearly been going easy on him and is now sooooo happppyyyyy to have his rough and tumbly Bug back.
Hum is taking his antibiotics like a good kitty and guzzling lots of fudz to make up for what he missed. Result:one bulgy fluff ball. He's going back to the vet tomorrow. I hope he'll get the all clear, but it might help if you could all find a moment to concentrate really hard and think the following words in the general direction of Cambridge: "Humbug, for goodness sakes, doooo a poooo!" Got that? Thank you.
"Gaby, do some bloody marking!" might be helpful as well.

Mac thinks lions'n'wildebeests is the best game ever. Tragically, Barry just doesn't want to play...

Date: 2010-04-27 05:54 pm (UTC)And spider is down to just one small bandage (to fix his little finger to his ring finger). Just that and a swarm of scabs. He'll be jumping around in no time. Oh, wait. He was jumping around while swathed in bandages.
