Big change: [livejournal.com profile] musique_monkey has a new job. Wheee! And some time at home before it starts. Double wheee!

On the other hand, poor Spidermonkey is ill again/still. Aches, pains temperature, misery, throwing up... The throwing up seems to be due to the antibiotics he started yesterday. He's now on different ones and not actually throwing up (yet). We're all hoping he gets well in time for us to go on holiday a week today, and stays well this time! At least it doesn't appear to be anything serious, more a case of one damned thing after another, but we await (more) test results...

Squirrelmonkey had fun in France and is starting the school hols by ripping every CD he can lay his hands on so he can keep his not-Pod fully loaded all summer.

I had fun with L--lots of food, good company, DVDs, and Shakespeare (Taming of the Shrew in St John's College garden).

And our student neighbours are celebrating their last week in the house with multiple parties and apparently putting up all their friends who no longer have rooms in hall. It's loud, but only for a few more days, and my new, girly earplugs are great. Just so long as they can manage a tiny bit of consideration and keep the noise on the front where it won't wake sick Spidermonkey. And I can look forward to watching them trying to clean up next week--more work than they've probably done in years.

I will happily lend Mr Vampire 1, if you think squirrel and musique would enjoy it. Mr V 2 I have on NTSC dvd somewhere, Mr V 3 is another PAL tape, as are the Spooky Encounters films and Mr V 5 (aka Magic Cop). The others we have are largely on VCD, I think -- can you play those? MY dvd player will, but I know some models don't. I can bring or lend as you think would work.
It's worth persevering with BSG, it really is. It takes a while to bed down, but the characters are really strong and it has some excellent political stuff and moral ambiguity going on. The pilot is trying to set up a lot, but there are some wonderful consequences to come -- Adama's relationship with Roslin; the Boomer-Chief Tyrrell-Helo triangle; Saul Tigh and his drinking; Lee Adama's problems with his dad; and the general self-destructiveness of Starbuck.
The marquis and I are probably going to go see the new Jackie Chan film some time soon, btw (it's the remake of The Karate Kid, but Jackie rocks, so...) Would any of you be interested? It's had reasonable reviews.

Thank you!
Spider is sleeping the sleep of the very exhausted, so we're not watching anything at all yet, but will persevere with BSG. You make it sound worth it.

As for vampires, my guess is we can get anything to play if we do it through the laptop, especially if musique is here to tell it who's boss. I'll be in touch when we're up to vampire watching again.

Really not making any plans that involve going out this side of our trip to Sidmouth--if that goes ahead. So don't wait for us for the Jackie Chan. Maybe another time...
