Cambridge message

If you're shopping in town today, the monkey school orchestra will be playing cheezy Christmas tunes (and the Pirates theme) in Lion Yard Shopping centre from 12.15 - 12.45. Apparently this helps to get the festive lights switched on. Take that as an invitation or a warning.

Pirates are so festive

Will steer clear of town :)

Town now clear of monkey boys, though not of festive light switch-on, which apparently takes all day. You might now want to avoid St George's church, Chesterton, where they are now rehearsing for a later choir concert--Vaughan Williams and the '3 different songs about birds'.

You'll be happy to hear that they caused a minor territorial dispute about whether the balcony walkway between New Look and the Library belongs to Grand Arcade (who wouldn't have let them play) or Lion Yard (who'd already agreed to). Lion Yard won. Considering the walkway was already there, and monkey bands were already playing on it before Grand Arcade was built, I'd say this is a fair result. But this time they had no fewer than 3 smartly blazered Lion Yard security people standing guard and cordoning the orchestra area off with silk ropes--very snazzy.
