protests and punishments

So far, no punishments for those who missed school to go on protests.

Unless you count an outburst from the Deputy Head about how the whole reputation of the school has been 'ruined' (delivered during a music cover lesson to a Year 8 class who mostly didn't go on the protest). And the Head appears to be letting off steam by yelling longer and louder than usual at anyone not wearing proper uniform.

Possibly we've got off lightly because Spider was present at the start and end of the school day and for several lessons, but I haven't heard of anyone else getting in trouble either.

The deputy head is a git, frankly. We want young people to stand up, get involved and be pro-active. It's their futures, after all.

The kids agree. It was typical that his outburst was directed at kids who had stayed in school. The 'leadership team' like telling people off, but they don't like to confront anyone who might answer back, so they generally stick to bollocksing the well-behaved.
They do this with parents too. We've more or less given up attending information evenings because it mostly consists of the few parents keen enough to go getting told off because parents who aren't there are letting their kids skip school/do drugs/go to parties... Grrrrrr.

That is classic education bad management. Grr indeed.
