Fruitcake is sitting on my desk, watching me type!   She even spent  a couple of seconds on my lap.  This from a cat who has never voluntarily entered my office until now.

Why she would do this on the very day I took her to the vet to have needles poked in her is anyone's guess, but I suppose I'm not the only one missing Zil and willing to try out less obviously suitable companions.

No sign of either flying pigs or desk-sitting cats today. She's gone back to sitting on the landing outside my office where she can trip me up if I attempt to leave. I'm hoping she'll come back again this evening as she's a very time-of-day oriented cat.

All back to normal so far today. Will let you know how things go--still waiting for vet results too.

This is quite a common change, in fact -- formerly independent cats become more sociable when they are single. They still want contact and now will come to you, rather than the other cat. It's the one nice thing that arises in these circumstances.

She's definitely seeking me out more (though, so far, never when it's just the two of us in the house). But I was astounded to see her make such a big change. She entered a room she normally avoids, sauntered across it and jumped onto the desk--and then my lap-- as if she did this all the time.

Normally she's much more tentative. For instance, she tests my lap by putting just her front paws on it, or just her back ones, or sitting next to me. She'll only attempt a full lap sit if there are no alarming signs at any stage. If I cough, or the kettle boils, or whatever, the attempt is abandoned.

It a big adjustment for both of you. But I'm sure she'll become both more sociable and more confident.
Moon to this day starts with the front paw thing.
