Leicester is home!  The op went well although he has a screw loose.  No, really, there was no way the vet could attach all the screws through the plate into suitable bits of bone so she had to leave one out.  She thinks it will heal ok anyway but it makes the 'crate rest' more important than ever.  Later he will be allowed out to sit on laps, but not yet...

He can already stand and squat, which he couldn't do at all before, but he's still in a lot of pain.  Probably not more than ever but more than he'd got used to at the start of this week.  We have strong painkillers for him, but not the ultrastrong hallucination-giving ones.

He's eating quite well.   Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] la_marquise_de_  for introducing him to gourmet perle gushy fudz.

Big thank yous also to [livejournal.com profile] tamaranthand [livejournal.com profile] ozymandias_cat for the loan of their top-loading carrier.

Edited to add a pic.
He's busy catching up on sleep.

I'm sure he could fit you in one day next week. Just let me know when would suit and I'll see what we can do.
BTW, I've just added a picture to the main post.

Yay! How's Humbug taking his reappearance?

Humbug is taking it better than last time--confused but really hostile or fearful. I think the sock trick really helped. I rubbed the Leicester/Humbug smell sock on Humbug this morning and he LOVED it. Now, he's happy to get close to sock-rubbed Leicester. He'll eat near his cage and sit in the kitchen a few feet away quite relaxed, but then suddenly he'll seem to get a whiff of something different that makes him hiss and leave the room, basically how he reacted the first time. I think the sock trick must be a big part of what is making it easier this time, though I expect Humbug has also learned from the previous episode when vet-smell Leicester turned back into friendly Leicester.
BTW there's now a pic of shaved Leicester in the main post.

I am delighted to hear that he is home and doing well. He has to be the bravest cat in a thousand mile radius of your house.

Yes, though what really saved him was being tough enough to drag himself home.

Sleep will, I'm sure, be the best thing for him. Good to hear he's home and beginning to recover.

He's sleeping a lot. When he's awake, he's very happy to stay in his crate but just starting to feel well enough to get a bit bored if we don't fuss him often enough.
